Hi, everyone!
I think it’s finally going to stay spring here! The leaves are out on all the trees except the oaks, and it’s sunny and green today.
I’ve been helping Grandpa finish the new kitchen floor at Sodus. When it was part way done, I helped him unfasten the ladder to the loft, so we could put the new flooring under it. Now it’s done! Continue reading “Spring Again!”
Snow, O No!
Hi, everyone!
The weather this season is getting even more mixed up! Last week, we had sunny days and the flowers were blooming. I made friends with a flowering magnolia tree and more of my daffodil friends were in bloom.
Then, on Monday morning, there was snow outside! Continue reading “Snow, O No!”
A Very Busy Saturday
Hi, Everyone!
Yesterday was a very busy day! In the morning, I helped Grandpa work on the new floor for the Sodus kitchen. Grandpa filled the uneven places in the floor with layers of thin floor tiles. They remind me of a patchwork quilt! Grandpa showed me how he cuts the pieces of new floor to the right shapes. Continue reading “A Very Busy Saturday”
Holy Week!
Hi, Everyone!
Grandma says that the week between Palm Sunday and Easter is called Holy Week. This year, Holy Week was really sunny but it was cold out! When I got up early, I could see frost on the deck. So I stayed inside to wave my Palm Sunday palms at my favorite sunbeam. When I did go outside, look what I found! Something ate the tulips! Continue reading “Holy Week!”
Spring!
Hi, Everyone!
We’ve been having really warm weather here. It’s more like summer than spring! One day this week was the warmest temperature for that date ever recorded here – 80 degrees F. in March! All my spring flower friends are blooming extra-early, even the ones that forgot where they were supposed to be! Continue reading “Spring!”
Hawaii Memories
Hi, Everyone!
We spent a lot of time last week getting ready for the travel dinner! I helped Grandpa make banana ice cream in the new ice cream maker. Then I helped Grandma make the monkey bread to go with the ice cream. After that, I helped Grandma make a BIG batch of okonomiyaki sauce. We put it in squeeze bottles so we could have some at every table for the travel dinner. Continue reading “Hawaii Memories”
Aloha Part V
Hi, Everyone!
We had to get up early to catch the plane in Kauai to go to Maui. By the time we got there, it was lunchtime and everybody was hungry. So we stopped at Beach Bums in Maalaea Harbor to have lunch. Moose-san and I really liked the fried zucchini. Grandma says liking fried zucchini runs in the family! Continue reading “Aloha Part V”
Aloha Part IV
Hi, Everyone!
Boy, did I have a busy time on Kauai showing Moose-san around! First, I had to take him on a walk around our part of the resort, so he would know where he was. Then, right after Bill-kun and Karin-chan and their mommy and daddy left, we drove to Waimea Canyon. I was there two years ago, and I knew Moose-san would like it. Continue reading “Aloha Part IV”
Aloha Part III
Hi, Everyone!
Bill-kun and Karin-chan and their mommy and daddy came to Hawaii, too! I gave Bill-kun and Original Lion-san a big welcome hug! It was a very long trip for them to come from Japan, so I showed Original Lion-san where to take a nap in the sun. Continue reading “Aloha Part III”
Aloha, Part II
Hi, Everyone!
Grandma and Grandpa and I spent last Saturday getting ready for Uncle Steven and Aunt Kara to join us. Grandma made butterscotch scones for breakfast, then we went to the Saturday Farmers Market in Lihue. We got a ti leaf lei from the Heavenly Haku lady, and she showed me how she makes leis and head wreaths. Then we bought bread from Ursa-san at Midnight Bear Bakery and a low acid pineapple and some apple bananas. So we were all set when Uncle Steven and Aunt Kara’s plane arrived!
